Lord, we pray that our children would LOVE God’s Word,MEDITATE on it and TRUST it as a lamp to their feet and a light to their path (Psalm 119:97,105).
Grant them the grace to run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts and instead pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord with a pure heart (2 Timothy 2:22).
That they may know that those who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. I pray that they will continue to grow firmly in what they are learning. That they may know their faith, firmly live in it and boldly share it. (2 Timothy 3:12-16)
We ask that they would walk with the wise, and would thus become wise themselves. Ask that God would keep them from having ungodly influences for companions, which can bring them harm (Proverbs 13:20). We pray, that instead, they influence others with the light of Christ.
We ask You Lord to help them love You and keep your commands, we claim on their behalf the promise that he who loves Jesus will be loved by the Father, and manifest Himself to them (John 14:21). Father, please reveal yourself to all our children.
Lord, we implore that You give them love for others in the same way they have been loved by You. (John 13:34-35).
We pray that they will never be deceived about the state of their heart before you Lord. We pray that their faith in God would be evidenced by good fruit in their lives (Matthew 7:21). We pray that they will grow in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man (Luke 2:52). We lift to you every aspect of their lives – physical, mental, spiritual, emotional, and social.
God, implant in them a strong sense of identity in Christ as a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17) and that they are chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and your very own possession. We ask that they will be aware that their identity wasn’t secured only for their own sake, but so that they may proclaim your goodness, for you called them out of darkness into Your marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9)
Lord, please keep our children from jealousy and selfish ambition. We pray that You would keep these things from taking root in their lives. Ask that the Lord grant them wisdom from above, a wisdom that is pure, peaceful, loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. That the wisdom in them will be full of mercy and always be sincere (James 3:16-17).
We pray that this next generation will follow You closely and be sensitive to Your leading. Tune their ears to Your voice and Your voice alone. That they will be a generation who seek You and worship in Your presence with a new song, O God of Jacob. (Psalm 24:6) (Psalm 96:1) That they will seek to know you and have an intimate, ongoing relationship with You. (Numbers 12:7,8)
We ask Lord, in Your name, to keep them from loving the world and the things of this world (I John 2:15), and that they would instead set their minds on things that are above (Colossians 3:2). Keep their minds from every thought sent from hell to destroy them or to distract them from Your purpose for their lives. We capture rebellious and evil thoughts and teach them to obey Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). We proclaim that Your peace will guard their hearts and minds as they live in Christ Jesus. That our children will fix their thoughts on what is true, and honorable, right, and pure, and on what is lovely and admirable. (Philippians 4:7,8)
We ask all these things in Jesus' powerful name, AMEN!
